Informática 2009 Conference will be held in Havana, from February: China Invited
A delegation from the Ministry of Information and Communications, led by Deputy Minister Jorge Luis Perdomo, invited representatives of Chinese universities and companies to take part in the thirteenth conference Informática 2009, to be held in Havana, from February 9 to 13, under the theme "New Technologies: Development and sovereignty."

The Cuban deputy minister explained that Informatica is an event that has been held for more than 20 years and is divided into two main parts. The first is a conference devoted to sharing knowledge on issues of scientific interests in the different specialties of information and telecommunication technologies (TIC), which will include 14 events, including conferences, workshops, master classes and panels. The second is a commercial fair where companies and entities participating in the congress will present their products and new technologies.

Informática 2009 will focus its attention in the use of informatics and telecommunication technologies as support for internal development and technologic sovereignty of nations. It encourages scientists to present works, projects and initiatives which promote the actions undergone by countries to foster the use of TIC in the development of society.

China has become a world leader in information and telecommunications and is a strategic ally of Cuba in its development in this area, said Perdomo, who added that this cooperation will be increased in the future.

Informática 2009s presentation event was presided over by the Cuban ambassador to China, Carlos Miguel Pereira, and was attended by directors of Chinese companies from the information and telecommunication area involved in economic relations between the two countries.
