The Cuban delegation won four gold medals at the 9th Giraldilla International Badminton Tournament held in this capital.
The hosts also won three silver and seven bronze medals, and were followed by Belgium (one gold), the United States (0-2-2), Italy and Peru (0-0-1).
In the women's category, Solangel Guzmán - gold medalist in Cartagena 2006 - defeated Lauren Todt, from the United States, 21-10 and 21-12 in the gold-medal game.
In the men's competition, Than Yuhan (Belgium) won the gold medal after beating Rayud Rai (US), 21-19 and 21-19.
In the double modality for men, Cuba's Osleni Guerrero-Alexander Hernández won the title, while Guzmán-María L. Hernández won the gold medal in the women's contest.
