Inaugurate in La Acacia: Adigio Benítez a Cuban's Painter
In the exhibition Con la regla y el pincel (With the ruler and the paintbrush), which was inaugurated in the La Acacia gallery San José No. 114, Centro Habana, the main characters are women, architecture, landscape with the presence of colorful, fresh and very imaginative fables.

These works are close to surrealism. In them he puts in order a different style of harmony and metaphors; a legible language where the realistic and the incredible things talk together, as an evidence that in art there is a dialectic integration and a reciprocal conditioning between imagination and the life reality that is revealed, for several years in the work by professor Adigio Benítez, 2002 Plastic Arts National Award.

From the very beginning, realism was the main character of the pictorial stories of Adigio Benítez. From that moment onwards imagination answered thematic demands. The line, perspective, the trace, the encounter of divine historic, symbolic characters constitute basic elements of the creative armory of the artist who dominates his space.

There were some previews from this series named En casa blanca (In the white house) in the previous exhibition of the artist at the Villa Manuela gallery (UNEAC). That was Ensayo sobre la esperanza (Essay on hope) where his women or majas leaning or inserted into a very singular architectonic environment, surrounded by a fresh landscape. These traces of architecture -that had their precedents in the exhibition Papiros de La Habana (Papyruses from Havana), 1968- are made as a folded paper, which comes possibly from the childrens environment. These are his flicks, a very personal element in his artistic work, that appeared in previous years as the artists was searching for an expression that may contain a metaphoric language. These are in contrast with the way in which Adigio represents women here, very contemporary, not only in the way of dressing, but also through the openness and confidence that they show, which are no pictures of models, but constitute different current Cuban women.
