Founded in Havana the Latin American Association for the Mapping of the Human Brain.
Aimed at providing specialized information and making available significant experiences in the field of neurological sciences, a group of regional countries founded in Havana the Latin American Association for the Mapping of the Human Brain.

The group is made up of researchers from Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina and Cuba. The association found the support of the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO), other international institutions, plus Canada, Britain and Germany.

The director of the Cuban Neurological Sciences Institute, Doctor Pedro Antonio Valdes, told ACN that the new association expects to develop tools for the early detection of neurological and psychic conditions.

The infant development disorder is another target for the group; the problem currently affects many children in the world, said doctor Valdes.

Over the past few years, Cuba has implemented a national project to use early diagnostic tools in the countrys health care system.

Despite the effects of the over-45-year economic blockade, Cuba continues to boost research actions in the field of neurological sciences, which has thus far been a privilege of developed nations and trans-national companies.

The use of computerized axial tomography (CAT scan) allows getting information on the performance of the human brain without the need to apply any surgery.
