This rural community -located in Trinidad municipality in the province of Sancti Spiritus- has been also benefited with this project intended to compensate the differences in the overall education of children attending kindergarten as well as those who dont.

"The childrens relatives play an important role since they must act as guides during class activities and also at home, when the abilities of the kids must be improved", added Maria Dolores.

According to Carlos Miguel García, vice-director of the educational department in Sancti Spiritus, nearly 1 170 children from the Plan Turquino settlements systematically attend classes under this "Informal Method of Pre-school Education", as it is also known.

The stimulation of the motor development and the training of language abilities are two of the ineluctable purposes of those who, like María Dolores, walk un and down the mountains for the sake of Cuban children.
