15th Meeting of Ballet Companies will be held in Havana beginning March 14.
This years event will be dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the National Ballet of Cuba.

Some 400 professors and students from Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Panama, Denmark, Italy, Germany and Australia, plus Cuba, will attend the meeting, scheduled for March 15-29 at the Havana Grand Theater, reported Prensa Latina.

National Ballet School Director Ramona de Saa said that Italy's Joseph Fontano, president of the World Dance Alliance, Rosa Folgado (Spain) and Paula Castro (Brazil) are among the guest professors.

The event features lectures, and dance lessons in different modalities, including classic duets, character and ballroom dance, folklore and Spanish dance.

Maitre Fernando Alonso, founder of the BNC, and Fontano will teach a workshop on elementary techniques for students aged 9-10.

As part of the program, students from the Cuban ballet school will pay tribute to Alicia and Fernando Alonso.

The International Contest for students aged 13-19, from elementary and medium levels, will be held parallel to the meeting. The jury will grant four awards: the Grand Prix, the prize to the best dancer-revelation, and two awards to the best duet and the best performance.
