Fidel"s great legacy is our people"s dignity and unity, and we should take advantage of that and continue his work, he told Prensa Latina.
Rodriguez is visiting Guatemala for the first time to perform Wednesday night at the Guatemala City stadium that can seat 12,000 people.
Rodriguez, 61, considers himself more a songwriter than a singer. He announced he would not continue singing much longer, because he has been on stages for over 40 years.
However, I wanted to come to Guatemala, because as a son of Latin America I had always thought and felt that I could not miss visiting this country, he said.
After his Guatemala concert, Silvio Rodriguez will continue his Central American tour with performances in El Salvador and Nicaragua, together with Vicente Feliu, another Nueva Trova movement founder.
