The meeting took place at the Cuban embassy in the Portuguese capital with the presence of Armando Delgado, a member of the CTC Secretariat who participated in the 11th Congress of the General Confederation of Portuguese Workers (CGTP).

According to Prensa Latina news agency, topics such as the recent electoral process in Cuba and the struggle for the release of five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unjustly held in US prisons since 1998, were discussed during the meeting.

Also present were the Cuban ambassador in Portugal, Jorge Castro, as well as representatives of the Womens Democratic Movement, the Cuba-Portugal Friendship Association, the CGTP and other Portuguese trade unions.

During the recently concluded congress of the CGTP, participants approved a motion of International Peace and Solidarity in which they also ratified their solidarity with Cuba and their rejection of the almost 50-year-old US blockade of the island.

During their stay in Lisbon, the CTC delegation has also met with other Portuguese trade union representatives and the delegations of China, Angola and Spain, among others.
