The IV National TV Festival in Cuba calls for a cultured, varied and intelligent TV.
The sessions of the event that were held until February 2nd will pay a posthumous tribute to one of its founders, the popular actor and former hero of the Cuban TV Enrique Almirante, who recently died in the Cuban capital.

Waldo Ramírez, vice-president of the Cuban Institute of Radio and TV (ICRT, after the initials in Spanish), who was also the general coordinator of the Festival, emphasized that these 50 years of Revolution have been a resistance history and that the bigger arsenal of that force is in the culture.

To be cultured, he asserted, widens the limits of any debate and enriches the critic, an exchange the Cuban TV needs with every part of the society.

The vice-president added that there is no other option than to bet for a credible TV, for a diverse TV, for a creative work that give the right importance to the Cuban and to the best of the universal production, a TV that critically and intelligent deals with any topic.

One of the main spaces of the festival was the theoretical event that took place at the Centro de Prensa Internacional with very complex topics, such as culture and entertainment in TV, the treatment of history and the importance of drama.
