The Portal for the Cuban Culture, Cubarte, will be alert this year in every activity organized in the Romerías de Mayo (May Festivities), Holguín, the City of the Parks. The 15th edition promises, from May 2nd until 8th, many attractions in the capital of the Arte Joven (Young Art), with the maximum aspiration to found the Festival Mundial de las Juventudes Artísticas (World Festival of Artistic Youths), dedicated this time to the state of Tamaulipas, México and to the city of Quito, Ecuador.
The Hermanos Saíz Association, the main star of this event as an organization for young artists, is calling the best musicians, theatre personnel, researchers, dancers, writers, painters and cultural promoters to celebrate this Party of Traditions and Modernity from the streets and places of the third Cuban capital, a unique stage for great concerts and performance, simultaneous exhibitions, workshops and public dances, to sessions of reflections.
The Romerías de Mayo, to the North of the Cuban East, have consolidated the yearly existence of the event among the young people within Cuban art in the field of creation and research. There are also guests from other countries.
To life the Romerías de Mayo in its entire dimension, means to assist to the recognition of diversity in the field of culture. Professors and young people from the art world come together because there is no today without yesterday, that is their motto. The debate on the universality of regional cultures, the tribute to the founding fathers, and the most experimental and avant-garde exercises, have their own space in this land of creative youth.
