A new billboard to raise awareness of the case of the Cuban Five will soon be erected on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California.

The 14 by 48 foot billboard will appear February 1, as part of a campaign started by the US Committee to Free the Cuban Five to break the US media imposed silence, reported Juventud Rebelde newspaper.

Ramon Labañino, Gerardo Hernandez, Fernando Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero and Rene Gonzalez, internationally known as the Cuban Five, are antiterrorist fighters unjustly held in US prisons since 1998 for uncovering terrorist plots by Miami-based terrorist groups responsible for innumerable terrorist actions which, since 1959, have resulted in the death of more than 3,500 Cubans.

A press conference is also scheduled for February 1 in Los Angeles to publicize the case and read a call for solidarity with the Cuban Five in the US. The call has been signed by actors and Martin Sheen and Danny Glover; Heidi Boghosia, executive director of the National Lawyers Guild; Andres Gomez, director of the Antonio Maceo brigade; and Gloria La Riva, executive of the Cuban Committee to Free the Cuban Five.
