Flautist Niurka González and the Cuban Group Ensemble Opening Concert of the 49th Casa de las Américas Literary Contest
Flautist Niurka González Núñez and the group Ensemble Solistas de la Habana, conducted by maestro Iván Valiente, delighted the audience with the musical program "La flauta y el barroco" (The Flute and the Baroque period), which was performed recently during the event "Septiembre barroco", organized by the Havana Historians Office.

The audience enjoyed classics, such as The Sonata in A minor for Solo Flute, by Carl Philipp Enmanuel Bach; the Sonata Metodica by George Philipp Telemann, as well as selected pieces of Antonio Vivaldis Concerts for flute and orchestra.

Niurka González Núñez, who plays the flute and the clarinet with great mastery, has received several national and international prizes. She currently teaches at the Arts Institute.

The Ensemble Solistas de La Habana, for its part, was founded in 1998. They intend to preserve and develop the tradition of multi-format chamber music and play pieces that were until now little or not known in our country.

The group has performed on prestigious stages in the Americas and Europe, among them the Saint Marys Church in Trastevere, Rome, where they played the Misa Cubana a la Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre, composed by Cuban maestro José María Vitier.
