Cuba to Build New Eolian Park
Cuba will soon begin the construction of a new eolian park in the central region of the island with an electricity generation capacity of 10 megawatts.

After several studies carried out by the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment and by the Cuban Electricity Union to measure the intensity of the winds, the facility will be located in the municipality of Corralillo, in Villa Clara province.

According to Juventud Rebelde newspaper, this area, which is 200 kilometers east of Havana, has the necessary wind requirements - between 7-20 m/s - for the installation of the wind-driven generators.

The towers are able to endure intense winds and, in the event of a hurricane, its engines and other structures can be stripped downed.

This new eolian park will join others that already exist in Turiguano, in Ciego de Avila province; in the Isle of Youth Special Municipality; and another one currently being built in Gibara, in Holguin province.
