Alicia Alonso supports the cultural Project Danzar por la Vida
As a Good will ambassador of UNESCO, the prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso supported the cultural project Danza para la Vida, presented here.

A message of the Director of the National Cuban Ballet, expressed the satisfaction of Alicia Alonso by assuming such a nice initiative, which will benefit the development of the culture far beyond Cuba and in particular will make reality a dream that children and teenagers can dance.

The gesture of the dancer was thanked here in a press conference by Herman Van Hooff, director of the Regional Office for the Americas and the Caribbean; Francoise Pinzon, executive of Education program for children in risk, Human and Social Sciences Sector, both from UNESCO.

The gesture was also thanked by Jean-Marc Gaucher, president of Reppeto and director of the homonymous foundation.

Francoise Pinzon explained that the Project will support three vocational dance workshops in Cuba, Brazil and South Africa and the final show will be premiered in Paris in October 2008.

She emphasized that children who are victims of war and of sickness such as AIDS will feel the stimulus of dance to face the adversities of life.

During a tour trough the National Ballet School, the executives saw the technical and professional level of this dance modality, which inserts to the National Artistic Education in Cuba, the reserve of the artistic Cuban avant-garde.
