Havana researchers won an important award

Regla Pérez González, chief of the Department of Research of the Provincial Direction of Culture, informed us that "this award is the most important encouragement the culture system delivers to outstanding results in scientific work. Every cultural institution in the country were called to participate with proposals and, in the case of Havana, they presented the best works, selected by experts, where they gather experiences that are being applied or other that are being prepared for their execution".
The works received by the center were, articles, monographer or published books, such as "Esclavitud, familia y parroquia en Cuba", that is the result of a meticulous research and reconstruction work of the couples or unions between African slaves of the XIX century, where there is important information to the history and social sciences and "Fanny Elssler, cartas desde La Habana", a work about the emblematic diva of the Austrian ballet, who danced during two seasons in Cuba, 1841 and 1842, and through the collection of letters of her days in this city, it is described the theatre environment of the mid XIX century Havana and the acceptance her art had with the public.
