New meeting of symphonic orchestras
The 6th Meeting of Symphonic Orchestras will be held from the 10th up to the 17th of November in the Cuban capital, informed to the press the famous violinist Alfredo Muñoz, director of the National Centre of Concert Music.

This event, that will be held at the Amadeo Roldán theatre, allows to see the result of the work done during the last year and will be the expression of what have been achieved by both our professional and young groups.

Among thje participating orchestras, there are the Symphonic Orchestra of Matanzas, directed by Jenny Delgado; the one of Villa Clara by Irina Toledo; Camaguey by Jorge Rivero; Holguín by Orestes Saavedra and Ivette Gómez; Oriente that will has as invited maestro Guido López Gavilán; and the National Symphonic Orchestra by Enrique Pérez Mesa.

There will also take part the young groups of Matanzas, directed by Jenny Delgado and Esther González; the Conservatorio Amadeo Roldán, directed by Daiana García Siverio; the one of the National Music School, directed by Jorge López Marín and Ana Míriam Santana and of the Conservatorio Guillermo Tomás directed also by Ana Míriam Santana.

Great expectation must generate the presence of the foreign group in the event: the Vienna Jazz Orchestra will offer a concert Thursday the 15th, at 8pm and will also have a meeting with our musicians.

The closure, on Saturday the 17th at 8pm, will gather together instrumentalists from every participating orchestra in a program that includes Bolero by Ravel, directed by Jenny Delgado; Homenaje al Sóngoro Cosongo by Félix Guerrero and directed by María Elena Mendiola and the Egmont overture and Concert No. 5 for piano and orchestra (Emperor) of Ludwig van Beethoven, directed by Enrique Pérez Mesa. This later work will have as a soloist the famous maestro Frank Fernández.
