President Hugo Chavez at the preinauguration of Camilo Cienfuegos Oil Refinery in Cienfuegos

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez arrived on Sunday to the south central province of Cienfuegos to oversee bilateral projects which are part of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas, or ALBA.

The Venezuelan leader traveled to Cienfuegos after ending his weekly Alo Presidente program aired live from the central city of Santa Clara which was dedicated to legendary guerrilla Ernesto Che Guevara.

During the program, Chavez talked live by telephone with Cuban President Fidel Castro and announced that Cienfuegos would be turned into a petro chemical complex.

The city of Cienfuegos known as the Pearl of the South and has the country's second port complex after the Bay of Havana and the most important in the southern coast will held in the near future a petrochemical complex.
