Cuba edged USA in a 3-2 final match by scores of 22-25, 25-18, 19-25, 25-23, 18-16. Rosir Calderon pocketed 22 points to lead Cuba. Nancy Carillo, the tournament's Most Valuable Player and top spiker, tallied 20 points for the island, while Daimi Ramirez added 19 points and Yumilka Ruiz collected 13 points.

Heather Bown led USA with 22 points, Ogona Nnamani added 19, Danielle Scott-Arruda contributed 17 and Jennifer Joines tallied 15 points.

Based on reaching the NORCECA (North & Central America and Caribbean Confederation) Continental Championships, the two house powers, Cuba and the USA, claimed berths into the FIVB World Cup to be held November 2-16 in Japan, where both teams will be competing for a spot at Beijing 2008 Olympic-Games.

Canadians beat their Dominicans opponents 3-2 in the finals and walked away with the bronze medal. Fifth to eight places were taken in order by Puerto Rico, Mexico, Costa Rica and Trinidad and Tobago.
