University students celebrate with David Torrens

With a picture of Ernesto Che Guevara on his T-shirt, guitar and microphone, and all the power of his songs, Cuban singer and songwriter David Torrens appeared on stage once again. And once again he received a rapturous ovation from the audience. This time it was made up of students, who gathered on the steps of the University of Havana for a concert that allowed them to enjoy many of the songs included in his albums Ni de aquí ni de allá and Mi poquita fe.

The Wednesday presentation included, among others, themes such as Quién me quiere a mí, Ni de aquí ni de allá, and Por ti seré, backed by Elmer Ferrer - undoubtedly one of todays most successful guitarists, and amazing violinist William Roblejo, who threatened to become another major figure of the night in a concert that managed to overcome obstacles such as electric and audio faults, and a metal barrier that created divisions in the public.

Accompanied by Kumar, Raúl Paz, and Kelvis Ochoa, who filled the open area with sounds emerging from reality, David was very happy. He expressed his thanks "for the invitation to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Federation of University Students" before thousands of people in this historic site, -a place where, he said, this type of recital should be, instead of as an exception to the rule.
