Antonio "El Cuate" del Conde, owner of the Granma yacht in which Fidel Castro and his comrades departed from Mexico to start the revolutionary struggle in Cuba, predicted that relations between Mexico and Cuba will soon improve.

After remembering his valuable contribution to the preparation and departure of the yacht from the Mexican port of Tuxpan, del Conde told Prensa Latina that bilateral relations between these two countries will soon recover.

"El Cuate", as then young revolutionary Fidel Castro called him in 1956, was a participant of the activity for the 50th anniversary of the Granma and received a tribute for his support to the Cuban Revolution.

He regarded the Granma expeditionaries as giants, with extraordinary courage and dedication, and highlighted the relevance and bravery of Fidel Castro and the men who accompanied him on November 25, 1956.

Cuban Ambassador to Mexico Jorge Bolaños said before the people gathered in the activity at Tuxpan that del Conde made it possible for Fidel Castro and his comrades to fulfill their promise of achieving victory.
