Walter Reiter

English conductor and violinist Walter Reiter, a leading figure with the Symphony of Harmony and Invention Group, highlighted the quality of Cuban musicians - particularly those studying in conservatoires.

In an exclusive interview with CNA a few hours before returning to his country, the violin graduate from the Royal Academy of Music in London referred to the fine training received by students in Cuba at the Higher Institute of Art (ISA in Spanish), saying they have open-minds and energetic spirit.

Reiter said the Cuban music school is one of the best he knows, after his experience working with there for a week in performing in concerts of the music of Bach, Corelli and Mozart.

According to the English violinist, there are not many countries where music students are surrounded by so much enthusiasm, musicality and humor as in Havana, where feeling for love of music is a national phenomenon.

The famous musician is currently training the members of the Ars Longa Group of Ancient Music, and announced he is aiming to create an orchestra of Barroque music in Cuba.
