President of Cuban Parliament visiting Laos today

The President of the Cuban Parliament, Ricardo Alarcón, traveled to Laos on Monday after finishing the first part of an official visit to Vietnam.

After his arrival in Vientiane for a one-day visit to Laos, the Cuban high-ranking official has a tight agenda that includes meetings with several leaders of the Indo-Chinese country such as his Laotian counterpart Thonsing Thammavong.

Both officials have expressed their interest in strengthening bilateral ties between the parliaments of the two nations.

Alarcón will also meet with other top authorities like the General Secretary of the Laotian People's Revolutionary Party and also President of the Republic, Choummaly Sayasone. During his short visit, the Cuban leader will also speak with the president of the Laos-Cuba Friendship Association, Chaleune Yiapaoher.

On Tuesday morning, Alarcón will place a floral wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier and will visit the Defense Museum.

Later, the Cuban delegation - that is also comprised of Miguel Alvarez, advisor of the presidency of the Cuban Parliament; and Hilda Vasallo, from the Foreign Relations Department of the Cuban Communist Party - will travel to Ho Chi Minh city to complete the second part of his visit to Viet Nam that concludes on Thursday, June 14.
