Montañez and Cuba, Mutual Admiration
Puerto Rican singer Andy Montañez said he has come and always will come to Cuba "although the president of the United States, George W. Bush, does not want it." In declarations to Granma daily, the singer-songwriter confirmed his admiration for Cuban music which he believes has the same roots as Puerto Rican music and "they advance together."
The organizers of Cubadisco Fair 2007, a music event with artists from Argentina, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela, awarded Montañez a prize of honor. "When I come to Cuba I feel at home, people enjoy my songs or become sentimental, all due to the affection between us that no one will ever disrupt.
