Drama Mex, film by Gerardo Naranjo of Mexico and La Perrera, by Uruguayan Manuel Nieto, compete on Tuesday at the 28th Havana Film Festival, which entered its eighth day.

Drama Mex is one of 18 films in the full length feature fiction film contest, and was co-produced with actors Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna, who are recalled in this country for films as Y tu Mama Tambien and Diarios de Motocicleta.

This film narrates three human stories that merge during a night in Acapulco: that of an old office worker, a young couple that faces separation problems, and a 15-year-old fugitive girl.

Meanwhile, 34-year-old Manuel Nieto, an artist making his first public debut, is showing La Perrera, with which he won the Toiger Award in Rotterdam, Holland, and has received highly favorable criticism in San Sebastian, Huelva, and Biarritz.

Other competing films on Tuesday are Bolivian Lo Mas Bonito y Mis Mejores Años, by Boris Boulocq; Cuban La Edad de La Peseta, by Pavel Giroud, and Brazilian Los 12 Trabajos, by Ricardo Elias.

Padre Nuestro, by Chilean Rodrigo Sepulveda; Que Tan Lejos, by Ecuadorian Tania Hermida, and La Prueba, by Peruvian Judith Velez will be played again.
