Medintern 2006
Clinical practitioners from several countries ended three days of intense debate and exchanges of experience in the Internal Medicine Congress, MEDINTERN 2006, on Friday that met in Havana.

Such causes of illness and death as diabetes, high blood pressure, dyslipidemia, isquemic cardiopathy and cardiovascular diseases were topics discussed in the congress.

Cuban and foreign experts highlighted the importance of the event, which included the ninth National Congress on Internal Medicine, an International Symposium on High Blood Pressure and an International Workshop on Diabetes Mellitus.

An internal medicine specialist at Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital, Dr. Delfin Perez Caballero, emphasized that the Congress allowed the gathering of clinicians from all over the country to exchange knowledge.

Dr. Emilio Pujol from Juan Ramon Jimenez Hospital in Huelva, Spain, stressed the high level of the Congress and the knowledge of all the participants in general and particularly that of the Cuban internal medical specialists.

Dr. Hector Rodriguez Silva, from the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences, a professor and consultant at Amejeiras Hospital, highlighted the event as the ideal setting to contribute to development of the specialty.
