Cuba will be host to several cinematographic events as 2006 comes to a close and 2007 begins, starting with the 28th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema on from December 5 to 15, bringing Cubans and foreign visitors the years best from the continent and around the world.

Following will be the Sixth National Festival of Young Filmmakers, taking place from February 20 to 25, an opportunity to take in the work of the latest generation of filmmakers. Then, the First Traveling Caribbean Film Festival will move through island cinemas beginning in February arriving in Cuba in June. The festival aims to promote the common identity of Caribbean countries and to create a network to foster regional audiovisuals arts.

In addition, the Fifth International Festival of Poor Cinema that is held each year in Gibara, the province of Holguin will take from April 16 to 22, as an outlet to strengthen alternative ways of filmmaking in face of the hegemonic powers of cinematographic multinationals and media.

And finally, the Eight International Documentary Film Festival Santiago Alvarez in Memoriam will be held from March 7 to 12 in Santiago de Cuba, giving a fresh impetus to the work of documentary filmmakers engaged in the fairest of causes of the people.
