Iván Pedroso
Cuban multi-champion Ivan Pedroso is now in condition to extend his chain to 18 consecutive years jumping over eight meters, in a season in which he will defend his Pan American crown in the long jump in the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Pedroso, Sydney 2000 Olympic Champion, jumped on 7.92 meters Thursday in his first official competition with a new impulse race of 14 steps, before going to Europe for a tour.

"I have already come out of the obstacles I had, I have finished my training satisfactorily, I am in good shape, with shorter steps, and I needed to jump like I did to become confident before going to Europe," he said.

After Pedroso, Cuban athletes Jairo Guibert (7.63) and Reñiré Reyes (7.51) were second and third.
