Havanas International Trade Fair gets underway today

With the presence of exhibitors from over 40 countries, the 24th Havanas International Trade Fair (FIHAV) opens today with a display area of some 11,000 square meters.
The 25 pavilions that make up Expocuba, the islands largest exhibition grounds, will be used during the fair that is being attended by some 750 foreign firms.
Official delegations from Bulgaria, Venezuela, Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala, Argentina, Angola, Nigeria, Ghana, Algeria and South Africa have announced their attendance to FIHAV 2006.
Executives from 19 chambers of commerce, among them, Madrid, Malaga, Italy, Bulgaria, Chile, Mexico, China, Germany and Togo have also confirmed their participation.
China, Spain and Russia are housing the largest display areas at this years fair, which is considerably larger than last years.
Interest in the fair is steadily growing with $247 million USD in transactions landed in 2004, $400 million USD in 2005 and a higher figure expected for this years edition.
