The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) representative in Cuba, Francisco Arias, congratulated the island for decreasing differences between the countryside and the city, a local source reported Tuesday.

Investments in health and education infrastructure, larger access to drinking water and electricity, among other services, are aspects recognized by Arias of the Caribbean nation, Granma newspaper reported today.

The FAO representative, on occasion of the World Food Day being held every October 16, visited an urban agriculture center in the capital suburb of Alamar.

During the tour, Cuba's Deputy Agriculture Minister Jose Puente, stated that his country is engaged in over 130 technical cooperation projects, sponsored by the FAO.
