Cuban film "El Benny", portraying the life of the popular music star Benny More, is included in the 10th Latin Film Festival in Los Angeles, organizers announced.

The film, enthusiastically received in Cuba, joins the record figure of eleven cinematographic premieres chosen by the important US event.

The festival will be chaired by its founders, actor and director Edward James Olmos (Blade Runner, Selena) and Marlene Derner, as well as Mayor Antonio Villarraigosa.

"El camino de San Diego" by Carlos Sorin (Argentina), "Se eu fosse Voce" by Daniel Filho and "O maio amor do mundo" by Caca Diegues (Brazil) and "El Benny" by Jorge Luis Sanchez (Cuba) stand among the Latin American productions to be exhibited.

Mexico, Peru, Spain and Puerto Rico will be other contestant nations, while the outstanding film star Antonio Banderas will be honored with the Gabi Prize for his professional achievements in a ceremony expected to take place on October 14.

This is the most important festival of Latin cinema on the US West Coast and will extend until October 15.
