Baseball Cup
Record nine-time winner of the Intercontinental Cup, Cuba beat South Korea 8-1, after a three-run lead in the second inning.

On Friday's winners list also figure Japan and Australia, who beat Taiwan and Philippines, respectively.

Cuba and Japan lead the way with a 2-0 record, the Dutch are at 1-0, while Australia and South Korea rate 1-1, Italy at 0-1 and Taiwan and the Philippines lost their two games.

On Saturday, Italy will face Cuba and the latter's Manager Rey Vicente Anglada has chosen veteran right Norge Luis Vera as opening pitcher, seemingly recovered from the problem that kept him from playing in the initial game against the Netherlands.

The tournament tomorrow will also feature an Asiatic duel between Japan and South Korea, while Taipei will face Australia and Philippines will play against the Netherlands.
