Cuba promotes mass sports at World Congress
In the morning, Ariel Ruiz Aguilera spoke on "Today's Programs of Sports for All in Developing Countries." In the afternoon, Francisco Doval Naranjo and Luis G. Gonzalez Carballido delivered presentation entitled "Sports for All: The Building of Social Capital" and "Sports for All: Building Intercultural Bridges."
The Cuban delegates will also discuss other topics of interests such as the contribution of science in the prevention of sicknesses in developing countries stemming from inactivity and the socio-cultural integration achieved thanks to mass sports.
The 11th World Sports for All Congress was opened on Wednesday with the participation of some 900 delegates from 100 countries. The opening ceremony was attended by Cubas First Vice-President, Raul Castro Ruz; Cubas vice-president, Carlos Lage Davila; president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Jacques Rogge; and president of Cubas Olympic Committee, Jose Ramon Fernandez.
