Cuba lost today 1-2 to China Taipei in a prep game as part of the Baseball Intercontinental Cup competition, scheduled to open November 9 and close on the 19th.

The Asians took advantage of shortstop Eduardo Paret's error to score the winning runs of the game in the seventh inning.

A fly by Kuan-Jen Chen at the beginning of the seventh went out of the reach of Paret and after two outs, lefthanded Yi-Chuan Lin hit the ball thrown by right pitcher Deinys Suarez to push home the substitute runner Chin-Yae Chang.

At the lower half of the inning, third-base Tai-Shan Chang dropped a harmless fly connected by Paret and that served for a double play with the bases full.

Cubans were the first to score at the beginning of the game with a single from Paret, who ran until third base helped by a rolling of third-base Michel Enriquez, long fly of shortstop Yulieski Gourriel and a hit from Alexander Mayeta.

Taipei used as pitchers: Chen-Long Lo (opener), Chien-Fu Yang (winner) and En-Yu, while Cuba had to employ five of its pitching staff: Adiel Palma, Norberto Gonzalez, Suárez, Vladimir Baños and Yunieski Maya, in that order.
