Typhoon Durian

The Philippines Foreign Minister Alberto Romulo expressed gratitude on Friday for the donation of medicine by the Cuban government and people to the victims of Typhoon Durian, which severely affected the Bicol region in November.

The powerful tropical storm left about 800 dead and disappeared people, as well as great devastation.

Cuban Ambassador to the Phillipines Jorge Rey Jimenez presented the medicines, valued at $22,000, in an official ceremony at the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Romulo said that through the Health Department and other agencies, "this medical aid will benefit those families affected by the typhoon."
