Cuban baseball team Ciego de Avila made its debut in the 46th National Championship with a victory over Metropolitanos (representative of the Cuban capital, just like Industriales) 4-2 at the Jose Ramon Cepero Stadium in this city Tuesday.

Ciego de Avila started scoring in the 6th, with two runs, one of them batted in by rightfielder Isaac Martinez, the best hitter in the match, with three hits in four turns at bat.

Metropolitanos scored one run in the 7th and another one in the 8th but Ciego de Avila scored two times in the end of the 8th to win.

The victory was for right-handed pitcher Raul Reyes, who pitched two innings and two thirds, with one single run, two hits, and he struck out two hitters. Reyes replaced Ismael Gonzalez, a man who substituted starting pitcher Alien Mora.

The defeat was for Miguel Angel Rubido, second pitcher of Metropolitanos.

Metropolitanos had its best hitter with first baseman Michel Fors, with two hits in four turns at bat and a run batted in.
