The national celebration for the Cuban Culture Day October 10-20 will have a special significance in the city of Bayamo on October 19, when the intellectuals invited to that traditional Party of Cuban Culture converge with colleagues from other latitudes and take part in the interactive dialogue to be centered on the role of nationalities and nations before the effects of neoliberal globalization through digital mechanisms, an initiative boosted by the Cuban Chapter of the Network in Defense of humanity

Devoted to the centenaries of Alejandro García Caturla and Paco Alfonso, to the 120th anniversary of Medardo Vitier and to the 150th of Pepe Sánchez, the province of Granma, where the National Anthem was composed on October 20, 1868, will cater to a cultural gala in homage to the beginning of our liberation wars.

According to Director of Programs Silvia Montano, each of the spheres of the Culture Minister will have a special agenda for the important celebration. The Cuban Institute of Art and the Cinematographic Industry (ICAIC) will premiere the long-length film "La edad de la peseta" directed by Pavel Giroud on the same October 20 at the Charles Chaplin Cinema. On the other hand, the National Council of Stage Arts will sponsor the Camaguey's Theater Festival and will devote an important section to the contributions of Paco Alfonso to the consolidation of a genuine popular- vernacular drama.
