Amateur artists in Cuba providing culture off the beaten path
The organizers of the festivities, in which 500 students from all over the country will take part, want the artists to demonstrate their talent not only in provincial art schools and theatres, but also in isolated neighbourhoods of various municipalities.
The main objective is to create an upbeat environment in places that lack recreational options.
The amateurs, known as "aficionados," coming from around one hundred municipal universities and will perform in dance, music, theatre, circus routines and literature. Students from Havanas Latin American School of Medicine and Chinese students studying Spanish in the country will be among the participants.
