Cuba and Iran sign memorandum of understanding in key sectors
In the presence of Cuban President Raul Castro, and the head of state of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hasan Rohani, a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in various sectors was signed on Monday in Havana.
Roberto Morales, Cuban Minister of Public Health, and Seyed Hasan Ghazizadeh Hashemi, Minister of Health and Medical Education of the Persian nation, signed the legal document that includes the spheres of health, research, education and medical technology.
Outline agreements will also be signed as part of the official visit to Cuba of the Iranian head of state, for cooperation in the fields of biomedicine, organic farming and the development of veterinary research; an interbank memorandum of cooperation, and a letter of intent for the joint production of the Pentavalente vaccine.
Rohani arrived in Havana on Monday afternoon from Margarita Island, Venezuela, where the 27th Summit of Non-Aligned Countries was recently concluded, the pro-tempore chairmanship of which was transferred by Iran to the Bolivarian nation.
The Persian head of state will leave for the United States on Tuesday to take part in the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
