A new case of a patient with imported Zika virus has been diagnosed, with which the number of cases on the island to date amount to 28. It’s a Cuban traveler who returned from St. Lucia, where he stayed since January for personal reasons and who lives in the town of Santa Clara, Villa Clara province.
Once the onset of symptoms occurred, he was admitted to the Arnaldo Milian Castro Provincial Hospital of Santa Clara, and blood samples were taken for study.
On July 21, the laboratory of Havana’s Pedro Kouri Tropical Medicine Institute reported that the patient tested positive for Zika virus.
He is still hospitalized, with good general condition and favorable evolution.
