Chinese navy detachment visits Cuba
A Chinese Navy´s three-warship detachment is currently paying a friendly visit to Havana on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between two nations.
The first arrival in the Caribbean island of a military flotilla is an expression of the feeling of brotherhood between the two countries, said the commander of the group, the first colonel Wang Jianxun.
The also deputy Chief of Staff of the Eastern Sea Fleet of the Chinese Navy said that the presence of the military ships in Havana is an opportunity to strengthen the ties between the navies of Cuba and China. He stressed that Cuba and China share the same ideals and independent development path for building socialism.
During its stay in Cuba, which will run until Saturday, the crew of the vessels will visit the headquarters of the Cuban navy, local authorities, the naval academy and places of historic and cultural interest.
