Paula Pareto burst into the rustic newsroom of the Mississauga Sports Center and the smile never faded from her face, despite falling just few minutes before 48 kilograms final in the Pan American judo.
"I lost against a great athlete," said the Argentinean, surrounded by dozens of media across the continent, most interested in her gesture at the end of the decisive battle, when she raised the arm of the Cuban Dayaris Mestre.
"I feel great affection for her, we have trained together and are many years of competence. I've won, now was her chance, and I am very happy because she struggles like me," confessed the Argentinean judoka.
In this atmosphere of respect, also prevailed extreme competitiveness, and the Caribbean took the best part with quick movements on the tatami, and a lot of concentration and discipline.
