Cuba and Russia assessed the prospects for cooperation in the field of the applications of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes in Moscow today.
Elba Rosa Perez Montoya, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and Minister of Science, Technology and Environment, and Sergei Kirienko, head of the State Corporation for Nuclear Energy of the Russian Federation (Rosatom), presided over the meeting.
They both held talks on cooperation in the peaceful use of the atom and current state of exchanges in this field, which aims to develop joint projects in the production lines of isotopes for medical purposes.
The talks also included irradiation technologies for the sake of sterilization and decontamination of food, drugs and surgical supplies, and training of Cuban specialists in Russian scientific institutions of higher global recognition, according to information provided to ACN by Cuban experts.
The three days meeting also include a scientific plenary, an exhibition fair and a congress with the participation of representatives of international organizations, energy companies and experts.
