One of the richest men in Miami lands in the Havana Biennial
Jorge Perez, art developer and sponsor, known for his contribution in millions of dollars to the collection of Perez Art Museum of Miami (PAMM), traveled to the Cuban capital especially for the XII Biennial of Havana.
Perez is very interested in buying Cuban art before prices to rise. In an interview with Telemundo 51, the developer said: "I think it's the right time to buy great Cuban contemporary artists in values that will rise more and more, because Cuban art will become more international."
The billionaire spoke of his interest in exploring in depth what he considers an interesting phenomenon: "It is to soak up more in Cuban art ... the Havana Biennial is one of the most important art events and what is been done there is quite impressive", he said.
Jorge Mendez Perez, representative of Perez Press Office, confirmed Perez’s presence in Havana. "By the time Jorge and his two curators are in Cuba and they went there to participate in the Biennale."
Another project of Mr. Perez in the Cuban capital is to clarify details of a scholarship exchange program: "Six American artists are in Havana ... they will be there working some time and in November six Cuban artists will be spending time working here in Miami", he said.
