The Interests Section of Cuba in the United States has opened an account at the Stonegate Bank in Pompano Beach, in Broward County, north of Miami, after that in 2014 it ran out of banking services in this country, several local media said on Wednesday.
The Cuban Interests Section spent more than a year without a bank to conduct its operations due to sanctions arising from trade embargo on the island, and Cuba has mentioned this problem as a priority in the current negotiations with the US to normalize diplomatic relations.
Stonegate Bank is oriented to investment and wealth management, and its primary mission is "to be recognized as the leading private bank in business" in Florida, as highlighted in its website.
