Peruvians received successful treatment with Cuban lung cancer vaccine

A hundred Peruvian patients have been treated with the Cuban therapeutic vaccine against advanced lung cancer, Cimavax-EGF, as announced Diego Venegas, director of the Institute for Innovation and Biotechnology of Cuba.
The results obtained in Peru show that the compound increased the survival of treated persons and improved their quality of life, Venegas said during the 5th Cimavax-EGF International Workshop, held at the Palace of Conventions in Havana.
Cimavax-EGF was registered in Peru in 2008 and is the first licensed vaccine against lung cancer. More than three thousand patients, mostly Cubans, have benefited from the drug.
