In a new opportunity to keep alive the legacy of Terry Fox, will be held on March 14th throughout Cuba XVII edition of the Marathon of Hope in honor of the young Canadian cancer victim.

Yves Gagnon, Canadian Ambassador to the Caribbean nation, said today at the International Press Center in this capital, proud to share with the Cuban-for the second time for him the experience of an event full of love and solidarity.

Thanks to the cooperation of the authorities and the people said, this race is the largest of its kind outside my country, demonstrating that Terry's sacrifice was not in vain.

Fox suffered the amputation of his right leg six inches above the knee, at 18 years old, and with a prosthesis ran 42 kilometers for 143 consecutive days.

His spirit of never giving up in the battle against this deadly disease each year encourages Cubans to take to the streets, either to run or walk, as showing that through exercise can fight cancer.

Carlos Gattorno, director of Marabana / Maracuba project, said that this event is a celebration of life, to share with family and friends, as children, youth, adults, elderly or disabled.

The Marathon of Hope will be participatory and
will take place in all municipalities, rural population centers and mountainous country, with torn simultaneously at 10:00 am by Radio Reloj.

In Havana, the start and finish will be in the multipurpose room Kid Chocolate, occasion when once again tribute to the memory of Terry Fox, who made a great sacrifice to raise money in the fight against cancer will surrender, ailment blinded her life with just 22 years.
