The number of Cuban and African passing through Honduras in their route to the United States has had a substantial increase so far in 2015, compared with the previous year.

"In so far this year, 1,238 Cubans have entered while around 4,249 entered 2014," told José Luis Lozano, head of the Immigration Office in the southern city of Choluteca bordering Nicaragua.

The official estimated that with the continuing rise in the Cuban emigration, is projected to more than 13,000 the number of migrants to the end of 2015.

Sources of Immigration office in Tegucigalpa meanwhile reported that so far this year have illegally entered Honduras 123 Africans, while the total number last year was 480.

Lozano explained that Cubans and Africans arrive in normal flights to Ecuador, where embark on a journey by land to the United States. A Honduras entering the country with Nicaragua.

Cubans flock to the Immigration Office in Choluteca to obtain a permit entitling them to stay five days in the country and then continue their route to the United States, but Africans are arrested, interrogated and have to leave the country in the shortest possible time.
