Cuban Jorge Luis Suárez won the XXVIII edition of Marabana dedicated to 495 anniversary of the founding of Havana. The 42 kilometers and 195 meters were traveled in two hours, 28 minutes and 45 seconds. Suarez was followed by Alexeis Machado (2: 34.51) and Yumier Fouman Santiesteban (2: 34.56).

The 43 years old marathon runner confessed that although not born in Havana this city welcomed him as a son. His desire to win gave him the strength to pick up the pace on the last trip and so defeat their younger opponents.

Meanwhile, in the women prevailed also Cuban Misleidys Vargas, 37, who stopped the clock at 3: 09.30, ahead of compatriot Leticia Cedeño (3: 21.47) and Canada's Elita Rahn, who spent the line in 3: 27.06.

At seven o'clock in the morning, through the Radio Reloj break to three thousand 183 Cubans and 664 foreign competitors representing 51 countries.
