The interim heavyweight champion in the WBA, Luis Ortiz, tested positive in doping test conducted last September 11 after his battle with the Nigerian Lateef Kayode.

The Cuban was detected using Nandrolone, an anabolic asteroid. The WBA is awaiting the official report of the Nevada State Athletic Commission about alleged doping Cuban, as confirmed, Ortiz lose his TKO victory and Lateef Kayode remains undefeated.

But this would not be the only consequence for Ortiz, as well he would be sanctioned economically and prevent from fighting for a year. "If confirmed positive would lose its status as interim champion," said Gilberto Mendoza Jr., vice president of the WBA.

"I have never eaten anything to seek for advantage over my opponents," said Ortiz (22-0, 19 KO). "The only thing I take in abundance when I prepare for a fight is water. Those people from Las Vegas are crazy." "Members of the Commission may say what they want. I know I'm clean" said the Cuban.
