Last October 17 was opened in Havana the new headquarters of the main building of Cuba Neuroscience Center (CNC). This center belongs to the business group BioCubaFarma and it has among its main research areas expanding production capabilities with 3D printers plastic and metal.

The Doctor of Science Michel Valdés Sosa, CNC director, said that in the center will be installed an MRI 3 Tesla donated by the University of Maastricht, the Netherlands, and the Atlantic Foundation Charitable Trust.

The new equipment is the highest resolution installed in Cuba, and is especially designed for the study of the anatomy and function of the brain, said the expert. It is expected to be operational before the end of the year.

With this new equipment very specialized studies will be conducted, including trials, in addition, to investigate the basis of brain diseases, search for new diagnostic methods and treatments check, said Pedro Valdés Sosa, the only scientist in a developing country, elected member the Executive Board of the World Organization for Human Brain Mapping.

Since its opening until last October 19 this center hosted the International Workshop on Human Brain Mapping where renowned experts from Holland, USA, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Brazil, Belgium, China and Turkey participated.
